In August, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branches in Portland, OR, partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local veteran with a service dog. Also at the event, a “Boot Camp” was held to educate real estate professionals on working with the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence.
The honoree at this event was Dan Halverson. Dan is an Army veteran who, upon his second honorable discharge, received his B.S. in healthcare administration from Concordia College. With this degree, he served at many military bases around the world, as well as flew MEDEVACS in Central and South America and Search and Rescue in Oregon and Washington. Dan was thrilled when he was surprised with a service dog. He said:
“I am so surprised, very grateful and humbled for your donation of my service dog. I can’t tell you how much it means to me and how much it will help my life out. This came as a total and pleasant surprise and I can’t thank you enough for all of your kindness and generosity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. For this to happen to me, I am truly humbled. Serving our country was truly my pleasure and I would do it all over.”
Fairway Branch Manager, Dave Porter, enjoyed helping host this event. He commented:
“It was an incredible opportunity for us at Fairway to serve someone who valiantly served our country.”
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and decorated Army veteran Sean Parnell, The American Warrior Initiative is the giving arm of Fairway. AWI seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life. The mission of the American Warrior Initiative is to inspire, educate and give back to our military and their families.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loans, please call me.
