A Fairway Independent Mortgage branch in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a veteran with a service dog. In collaboration with the event, a residential housing “Boot Camp” was also held to train real estate professionals on how to handle the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence.
The Honoree at the event was Benjamin Hutchins. Benjamin is a US military veteran and hero whose life was drastically affected by Hurricane Matthew. During the hurricane, Benjamin lost livestock, the HVAC systems in his home and his woodshop and woodworking machinery. Fairway and AWI were able to honor Benjamin with a grant to help cover his family’s losses.
Branch Managers Bill Reynolds and Ruth Hudspeth were honored to be part of this fantastic event. They said,
“We were honored to celebrate Veterans Day by hosting the American Warrior Initiative in Winston Salem. Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell did an excellent job, as always, teaching our area Realtors about the impact they can have serving Veterans. This special day included providing Silver Star Recipient Ben Hutchins with a grant. Ben and his wife Heather were impacted by the hurricane in Fayetteville, and this grant will help them get back on their feet, as well as kick start a business for Ben. A totally awe-inspiring day!”
The American Warrior Initiative is a national non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. AWI seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.
I am honored to work for a company that is a proud supporter of the American military and has helped thousands of active military personnel and veterans nationwide with their home mortgage needs. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to give back to these brave veterans and their families.
